Frank Michael Fazio
December 12, 2020
Frank Michael Fazio, 59, beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather was called home to Heaven on Saturday, December 12, 2020. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a recent diagnosis of abdominal cancer.
Frank was a proud Italian-American man who worked extremely hard to provide for his family. He had a gruff exterior and a heart of gold. He was known for his quick wit and sarcasm. He was happiest teasing the people he loved the most.
Frank’s greatest joy was his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Patricia Leto. Their four children: Frank, Francesca (Clint Knox), Nicholas (Riley), Christopher, and three grandchildren: Cayden (“Honey Boy,” age 13), Layne (“Puddy-do,” age 3) and Reese (“Weese,” age 1). Along with his mother, Sonia Fazio, his sister, Lisa Fazio, and his brother Roy Fazio (Brenda), and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on March 5, 1961, graduated from Lincoln High School in 1979 and married Patricia October 15, 1983.
Over the years, Frank worked many jobs. Highlights were opening his own “Franny’s Sweet Shoppe,” and his current employment at Two Rivers Marketing where he worked and played for 17 years.
In his spare time, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to watch Iowa Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs football. In midlife, he realized a dream when he bought a 2004 Mustang GT and a 2017 Dodge Ram lifted truck!
Frank is preceded in death by his father Frank II, his grandparents, Frank and Ascension Fazio, along with Roy and Evelyn Collins.
Visitation is Friday, December 18, from 5-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral mass will be Saturday, December 19, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Des Moines, IA, at 10:30 a.m. Please wear masks and practice social distancing. Gifts may be directed to the family in loving memory of Frank.

I'm sorry for your loss. I worked with Frank for 6 years at Two Rivers. He was one-of-a-kind with his quick wit and endless sarcasm. Behind that gruff demeanor was a guy with a heart of gold who loved to share stories about his grandkids. He will be truly missed, as a co-worker but more importantly as a friend.

We are truly sorry for your loss Patty and for the rest of the Fazio family and anyone else who knew Frank or called him a friend. Although we've only been your neighbors for six months, we both have very much enjoyed having you as neighbors. I personally enjoyed Frank's sense of humor and brand of sarcasm. He was the first person to lend a helping hand to a new neighbor who managed to get his truck stuck in his garage. I will also miss the occasional friendly chat and wave when we both happened to be outside. Frank was by all accounts a good man, and our hearts hurt for you all.
Please accept our sincerest condolences. Should you need anything from us please do not hesitate to ask. Zachary & Maria Clary

I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with Frank at 2RM for the last 8 years. I figured out early on that once Frank learned your name and started giving you a bad time, it meant that he liked you. I will miss him giving me a hard time about the proper way to load the dishwasher. Whether I was doing it right or not didn't matter. There are so many people that cared about him. He will forever be a part of the 2RM family.
