Lou, 66, passed away 12/14/2020 after a very short and unexpected illness at Iowa Methodist Hosp ICU.

Ray E. Davis 10/2/1951 Born and raised by Lester and Sylvia Davis in Unionville, MO
Ray passed away shortly after Lou due to complications with chronic illness on 12/15/2020 at Methodist Hosp ICU.

Lou passed away and was followed by Ray 36 hours later. They are survived by their Son William (Amy) Davis Prairie City, Iowa, Lou’s siblings Brother David (Laura) Mesecher Des Moines, IA Sister Bernie (Jamie) Mull Melcher, Iowa, and Brother Richard (Estella) Mesecher Des Moines, IA. Ray is survived by his Sisters Linda (Rick) McMahan Dallas, TX, Teresa Davis Brookfield, MO, Tonja (Eddie) Stock Wedgefield, SC, and Karen (Rich) Nuno Sullivan, MO. Lou and Ray are also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. They are also survived by their adopted second son Cody Des Planques.

Lou graduated Pleasantville HS 1972. Ray graduated 1969 from Knoxville HS, Iowa. Lou met Ray through a mutual friend in 1971. They were joined in marriage on 6/2/1973 in Pleasantville, IA. They were married for 47 years. They made their life in Fulton, MO, Knoxville, Iowa and most recently in Pleasantville, IA. Ray worked as a nurse assistant at VA Hospital in Knoxville, IA until his retirement in 1999. Lou worked and retired after 42 years at AE Dairy in 2019. Lou and Ray enjoyed their dachshunds throughout the years, most recently Derby. Derby has been lovingly adopted into Will and Amy’s home. Lou’s favorite holiday to celebrate and decorate for was Halloween. She has always enjoyed being the forever riding partner of Ray in cars, trucks and motorcycles. They recently enjoyed taking off for motorcycle day trips and motorcycle rallies in NW Arkansas. Lou and Ray loved to go to What Cheer, Iowa with friends and family on the weekends of flea markets. Lou was a wonderful cook and her ham balls are legendary. Ray wasn’t too shabby of a cook himself. His family and friends enjoyed his deviled eggs at gatherings. Ray enjoyed working on anything with an engine and wheels.

Lou was a much beloved sister by blood and marriage. Family was most important to them both above all. Ray was a wonderful and loved husband, father and brother to many. They are and will be greatly missed. Lou and Ray’s wishes will be honored by cremation and a dual Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
