Oral "Bill" Howard

Oral William Howard, 83, passed away Friday, August 28, 2009 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial to follow at Powers Warren Cemetery in Adelphi. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the funeral home.
Bill was born March 26, 1926 in Adelphi, Iowa, the son of Elisha and Alsie (McFarland) Howard. On March 31, 1944 he married Bonnie Palmer in Des Moines. Bill proudly served his country as an Army Veteran of World War II in a tank battalion. He retired as an Inspector for Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel after 34 years. Bill attended Highland Park Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his sons, Terry (Linda), Randy (Melanie) and Richard (Tammy); 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonnie; his parents; his daughter, Pamela Andersen; his son, Kenneth Howard and his brother, Lonnie Howard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park Church of the Nazarene in loving memory of Bill.
