Earl Stichter

Earl J. Stichter, 100, passed away Friday, August 28, 2009 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. A Mass of Catholic Christian Burial will be held 11 am Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday with a Wake Service at 7 pm at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Earl was born February 27, 1909 in New Liberty, Iowa, to Bell and Ralph Stichter. Earl worked as an Engineer for the Rock Island Railroad for 34 years. He was a longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Earl loved being with his family. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, but especially fishing, baseball and football. Earl was a huge Cubs fan.
Earl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marvelle, his daughter, Susan Gaffney of Henderson, Nevada, and a grandson, Sean Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
