Joe Paterno

Joe Paterno, 76, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in Indianola. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Joe was born in Crucoli, Italy on January 23, 1933 to Tony and Victoria Paterno. He attended Lincoln High School. Joe loved cars and amateur boxing.
Joe worked for Iowa Power and Light until his retirement February 1, 1995. After retirement, Joe fulfilled a lifelong dream to see the ocean once again, so he and his family moved to San Diego, CA. They stayed eight years, then returned to Des Moines where most of his relatives live.
Joe is survived by a sister, Frances Paterno, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Joe's friendly smile and cheerful personality will be missed by many other relatives and friends.
