ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY:

One year ago on August 23, 2009, Mary Ballantini passed away after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Mary was born December 11, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa. She and Richard Ballantini were together for 20 years before marrying on May 9, 1987. They owned and operated Poor Richard’s Lounge and the Mary Go Round Lounge.

Mary was known as a classy woman who loved life and people. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, decorating her homes, taking vacations, the Iowa State Fair, and spending time at her home at the Lake of the Ozarks.

She is truly missed by everyone who knew her. We love you and miss you!

OBITUARY:

Mary Ballantini passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 from a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at the Berwick Cemetery. A visitation with family present will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Mary is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Kenny Avery,
Lora Wyckoff (Don), Jim Avery, Sweetpea/Kim Avery, and Lisa Hobbs; grandchildren, Kenny Avery, Korey Avery, Jacob Fast, Mary Ann Fast, Joe Wyckoff, Nicole Loftus, Afton Hobbs, and Travis Hobbs; great grandchildren, Trovary and Nicaré Cavil; sisters, Rose Brown, and Pennie Cruchelow (Randy); step brother, Ed Wardwell (Sandy); sister-in-law, Marie Warner (Lewis); and brother-in-law, David Ballantini (Lynn).

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Wardwell; father, Bert Groth; sister, Betty Raygor; and step sister, Judy Wolfkill.
