Allan Michael Curray

Allan Michael Curray, 18, died peacefully Monday, August 17, 2009 at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines of complications of Cystic Fibrosis. Allan was born on April 2, 1991 to Tom Curray and Carol Bowman. He attended Collins Maxwell School until the age of 15, when he moved to Des Moines and graduated from Saydel on May 17. He was enrolled as a freshman at Grandview University in Des Moines.
Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 6 months of age, Allan fought a lifelong battle. He started to lose this battle at age 16, but never showed it with his cheery attitude. He enjoyed playing X-Box 360, riding dirt bikes, and watching the Green Bay Packers; Brett Favre was his all time favorite player.
Allan is survived by his parents: Carol (Larry) West of Altoona, and Tom (Karene) Curray of Des Moines; his brother and sister: Earl Nelson III and Rachel Nelson both of Ankeny; his grandparents: Thomas and Shirley Curray of Ankeny, Jesse and Bea Bowman of Altoona, Gitta Nelson of Ankeny, and Charles Reese of Altoona; his closest friends: Jackie, Ricky, Randy, Dalton, Chris, Mike, Mark, and Ryan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Shirley Reese and Earl Nelson, Sr.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines.
