Shirley Scott
Des Moines
Shirley Scott, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2020.
Shirley was born August 16, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa to Wilbert and Georgia (McGinnis) Kline. She grew up in Valley Garden area on the Southside of Des Moines. She married Frank Scott and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Shirley worked as a carhop at Millie’s Drive-in as a younger woman. Once Shirley and Frank started their family, she stayed home to raise their sons. Once the boys were grown, she began her career at Arby’s on the Southside of Des Moines, where she worked for 32 years. She also enjoyed her years living in Arizona.
One of her favorite pastimes was camping with her family when Frank was still alive. She also enjoyed gambling and she had an extensive collection of frogs. Shirley made the most amazing pumpkin pie and she loved the Christmas holiday. Above all, Shirley loved her family and was devoted to them. She treasured every second spent with them. She was the sweetest, kindest woman on the entire planet.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel Kline; son, Mike; granddaughters, Angie (Benny) Scott and Sarah Scott; great-grandchildren, Jared, Sheniya, and Gra; and many other loving family members.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Scott; son, Mark Scott; parents; and her sisters, Ruby Liggett and Barbara Flagg.
Shirley was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

My husband and I both got the pleasure to work with Shirley during our years at Arby's. My husband has worked for Arby's and known Shirley for 22 years. I was able to stay in touch after I left and visit with her through my employment at Hyvee as to which she was a regular customer. We both are very sorry to hear of her passing. Her smiling face and friendliness will be missed. Deepest Sympathies
