Marilyn Lee Sherman, 68, died peacefully at Taylor House on December 5, 2020 after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Marilyn was born May 21, 1952 in Omaha, NE, moved to Sioux City, IA in 1966 and then to Des Moines, IA in 1972. She was the only daughter of Elaine (Devine) and Stanley Sherman. After graduating from high school, Marilyn worked as a Payroll Supervisor for Younkers for 20 years before beginning a career with Pioneer Hi-Bred and retiring from the Marketing Department as an Administrative Assistant. Marilyn was kind, compassionate and truly cherished any opportunity to help others. In her free time, she had a loving devotion to volunteering and was named "Outstanding Volunteer" in 2009 by Wesley Acres. Marilyn was a proud member of Unity Church, was an avid journal writer, and had an incredible love for her felines.
She will be greatly missed by her brothers, Alan and Marc (Ruth) Sherman; her nephew, Stephen Sherman; her nieces, Stephanie (Rob) Strayhorn and Sarah Sherman; her great-nephew, Everett; her great-niece, Eliana; and her beloved cats, Sweetie and Cali. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; and kitty cats, Oreo, Mittens and Cinder.
Private services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. and will be livestreamed. The link can be found at https://zoom.us/j/97640521163

I grew to know Marilyn through our work at Pioneer. The many lunches we shared were a blessing of her kindness and deep spiritual journey. Her volunteer work touched the lives of many. My sympathy to your family.

Alan and family. I am sorry for your loss. Marilyn was a very kind soul. She was so interested in everyone else, and was able to hold conversations with anyone and everyone. We loved visiting with her at Thanksgiving. She will be missed.

Alan and family I'm sorry for your loss. Even though I've only known Marilyn for a short time at the IA clinic, I will always remember her cheerful & friendly smile even when she was hurting. it's a comfort to know she is at peace.
