Damjan “Dado” Bekic, 20, died August 11, 2009. Dado was born in Europe to Anto and Sonja Bekic on June 25, 1989. He came to the United States in 1999 and graduated from Urbandale High School in 2007 and then attended DMACC. Dado was a Sales Representative with AT&T and helped with the family business. He enjoyed cell phones, computers, cars and video games. His favorite games were World of Warcraft and Guitar Hero. He was also involved in Tae Kwon Do.
He had an unbelievably good heart and smile. He will forever remain beloved by his parents; his sister Andrea “Adi” and a host of family and friends in Iowa and in Europe.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 17, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Francis of Assisi, Catholic Church, 7075 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
A Memorial has been established. Contributions may be made at the funeral home. www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com

I havent seen or spoken to Damjan in a number of years but he was a good friend to me and helped me through a lot of hard times back in the day. im deeply sorry for your loss and am glad to have known dado

Dado was a great guy. He was a very good friend to every one. He will be missed greatly. I was heartbroken to hear that he passed away. I am praying for his family everyday.

I am very sorry to hear about Damjan my prayers are with you tonite as I look at the video that was made in his honor. I met Damjan at Great Clips at Cobblestone where I used to cut his hair. He always had a smiling face when he came in and I enjoyed talking with him. Im very sad to hear about this unfortunate tragedy. I would however like to know what happened if that would be ok. My heart felt sympathy for the loss of your beloved son. I did not know Damjan and I have only known Adi a short time (we are co-workers at Starbucks) but I wanted y'all to know you are thought of at this very difficult and sad time in your lives.

I am absolutely heart broken by this tragic loss. I worked with Dado and I cannot begin to tell you how much he was loved by everyone who was fortunate enough to have their lives touched by him. He was truly a person full of integrity, honesty, compassion and love. I am going to miss him more than I can express. To me his smile was like a room full of sunshine and his life and energy was more than could ever be contained. He was a good friend and if life had allowed it he would have been a strong pillar of society at some point. He was just too young, naive, and trusting in many matters. I am honored to have known Damjan and I wish to extend my condolences to the Bekic family during this time of extreme sorrow. Though I have not seen Damjan in a few years, I have fond memories of his playfullnes and bright smile. And though I have not spoken with Andrea or Mr. and Mrs. Bekic in a while, I cherish every moment I have spent with them as they are the most wonderful people I have ever met. I loved hearing the stories about Kiwi and Strawberry, the salt and sugar mix ups (Andrea), the way Mrs. Bekic handles rude or unpleasant people in a classy manner, and about the teasing Mr. Bekic recieves regarding his car.
Damjan will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The world would have definitely been a better place with him in it. Please my dear Bekic family...know that you are loved and cared for and will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My son, Shawn Van Leeuwen, speaks very highly of Dado and is very torn up about his passing. I hope you discover the truth behind this tragic event and justice will be served if needed. May God hold Damjan is His loving hands. May He comfort you in this terrible time.
