Jax Cruz Hawxby
November 29, 2020
Jax Cruz Hawxby, 6 years old, died after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. He was born April 14, 2014 to Justin and Charollette (Brose) Hawxby in Des Moines.
Jax was in kindergarten at Mitchellville Elementary and attended Berean Church. He played baseball for the Mitchellville Cardinals Little League, was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan, and liked to watch the sprint car races. Jax loved to spend time outdoors – riding four wheelers, camping, fishing, kayaking, playing with his dogs, Titus and Twinkle, or just using his vivid imagination to play with his friends.
Jax is survived by his daddy and mommy, Justin and Charlie; big sisters, Sydney and Chloey; grandparents, Danny and Penny Hawxby and Ed and Sue Brose; great-grandpa, Wally Hawxby; uncles, Chris Hawxby, Tony (Michael) Buchanan-Wiley, and Eddie (Rahni) Brose; aunt, Cori (Steve) Voegtlin; cousins, Paige (Calvin), Bryden, Tegan, and Laney; 2nd cousins, Dylilah and Isabella; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Rea Hawxby, Ron and Ona Machir, Ed and Elsie Brose, and Ray and Margaret Murray.
Family will greet friends for visitation from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2020 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Berean Church, 5299 E. University Ave, Pleasant Hill, with interment to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Children’s Cancer Connection, Ronald McDonald House in Omaha, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
