Darrell Else
November 21, 2020
Darrell Lynn Else, 78, of Indianola, passed away at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines on November 21, 2020.
Darrell was born October 29, 1942 at home on the farm near Cedar, Iowa to Earl “Bill” and Violet Else. He was one of 9 that graduated in 1960 as part of the last graduating class from Cedar High School. From 1962 to 1965, he served in the U. S. Army Security Agency as a crypto-analyst. He graduated with a BSBA in May 1974 from Drake University. He worked as a Programmer Analyst at several businesses in Des Moines as well as Omaha, NE and Dayton, OH.
Darrell enjoyed fishing, was an avid woodworker, could fix any problem around the house, never met a stranger, and enjoyed traveling. He saw opportunities where the rest of us see problems.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia; children, Lynn (Larry) Burt and Jason Else; grandchildren, Breanna Else and Austin Osborne; sister, Marcella Phillips; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary in infancy; and son, Craig.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2020 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, at which the family will not be present. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 1st, at the Norwalk Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Warren County 4-H Youth Programs, Friends of Walnut Woods or Rock in Prevention.
Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
