Judy Hethershaw
12/25/42 - 11/15/20
Judy was born on Christmas Day 1942 and perhaps that is why she had such a bright and beautiful soul.
Judy raised 3 sons which certainly was not easy. Guiding them through life while always offering encouragement and support no matter what they were facing. For many years she operated what seemed like her own taxi service, making sure 3 active boys were able to get to and from thousands of ball games, practices, school activities, and jobs. Judy and her car were always on the move and everywhere she went she would be meeting people and making friends. As a lifelong resident of Des Moines she made and kept friends from childhood to present day. Judy had the gift of being able to speak to everyone but also possessed a loving ear and everyone knew that she truly cared about them. She loved and cherished all of her friends and neighbors very much. Judy loved sunshine, green grass, and beautiful flowers .She loved sitting in her driveway at night visiting with her neighbors. She truly loved life but most of all SHE LOVED HER FAMILY!
Judy is survived by her son, Rick Hethershaw; brother, Rusty Erickson; sister-in-law, Beth Erickson; brother, Mike Freeman; and 3 grandchildren, Charlsie Hethershaw, Harrison Hethershaw, Andrew Hethershaw; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Rod Hethershaw and Todd Hethershaw; and her parents.
Due to COVID 19 there will be a memorial held at a later date.

Judy was such a dear friend. I will always cherish visiting her and her son, Rodney, at the nursing facility over the years. Her kindness and laughter were so infectious. I will miss our chats we had over the phone and our get togethers with other friends for lunch. She will be greatly missed.

Aunt Judy and Rusty used to come to our farm in Southern Iowa when we were all kids. I have the best memories of her always laughing and smiling. She was always so fun to be around. Rest in Peace.
