Frank C. Chia, 69, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born November 4, 1939 in Des Moines to Fernando and Francisca (Vasquez) Chia.
Frank is survived by his sons, Tomas (Sheila) Chia and Vincent Chia; daughter, Lisa Chia; grandchildren, Brandon Woods, Cassandra Chia, Carlos Chia and Christina Chia; great-grandchildren, Kaden Chia and Orlando Chia; companion, Roberta Little; siblings, Irene Galvin, Dorothy Guiol, Arlene Cardenas, Eleanor Dunham, Salvador Chia and Alfredo Chia; and many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Loretta Gonzales, Lucille Rivas, Aurora Chia, Carmen Zepeda, Eulalio Chia and Mariano Chia.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2009 with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic School.

Our condolences go out to my father, Salvador Chia, who lost a very special brother and Frank's children whose loss must come with great pain and sorrow.
Our prayers are with you as we reflect on the wonderful memories we shared with Frank throughout his life. I will remember most his happy-go-lucky attitude and caring character.
