William Wood

William Wood, 74, died peacefully Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5th at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
William was born March 19, 1935 to Alma and Mert Wood in Des Moines. He worked as a truck driver, owning and operating the Katich Express Trucking Company. He belonged to the Teamsters Union, as well as American Legion Post #738. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He loved anything to do with the water and the ocean, going to the state fair, and his dogs, Spike and Buddy.
William is survived by: his loving wife, Carol; his children: Rick (Lori) Wood of Eldora, and Kim (Danny) Richmond of MO; his step-children: Julie (Gary) Kramer, John Maranville, and Jason (Mary) Maranville all of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his sisters Peggy (Darrell) McCoy of FL, and Marilyn (Donald) Dahbolt of MO; and his brother John Coe of IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Walter Saffell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran's Hospital in Marshalltown in loving memory of William.
