Jacqueline Marie Hernandez
July 26, 2009
Jacqueline Marie Hernandez passed away at the age of 45 on July 26, 2009, at her home in Des Moines. Jackie was born August 5, 1963 in Hiawatha, Kansas. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Santiago Hernandez on February 14, 1988.
Jackie enjoyed spending time with her family and raising her five beautiful children. When she did work outside the home, she was a licensed CNA and was active as the Director of WeeCare Center for five years. She was also a member of Union Park Baptist Church where she volunteered in various activities. Jackie preferred to be a stay at home mom and enjoyed all the time she could with her husband and kids. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, reading many books, watching soap operas and giving the best advice anyone could ask for. She was an amazing person who will be thought about daily. Jackie and her husband dedicated time to being foster parents in which they adopted Christina (4) and Justin (3). Jackie was a very caring person who always put others first. She was a loving person whose love will continue to show through family and friends. Although it feels as if she was taken away too soon, we now have her watching us from above.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Santiago; son, Jason Taylor and his wife, Jennifer of Gretna, NE; daughters, Diona and Christina; and sons, Jaime and Justin, of the home; parents, Jackie and Shirley Thomason of Sprague, NE; grandmother, Dorothy Hutcherson of Sprague, NE; sisters, Pam (Chris) Ziegler of Plattsburg, MO and Vicki (Mark) Davidson of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Ayden, Kaylee and Chase Taylor; and nephews and nieces, Logan and Shelby Ziegler, Shane and Sydney Davidson; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by son, Jeffery Phillip Taylor; grandsons, Nicklaus Martin Taylor, Jeffery Phillip Taylor and Brennan Eugene Taylor; grandparents, Cecil Hutcherson and Jack and Stella Thomason.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Union Park Baptist Church, 821 Arthur Ave. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Memorial contributions may be directed towards the family in loving memory of Jacqueline.

I remember Jackie fondly. She and I were friends in grade school and I remember playing at her house on numerous occassions. I have lost track of a lot of school mates since being out of the Hiawatha area and I am so sorry to hear about Jackie. She was certainly taken to soon. May God give all her family strength to carry on as the days go on without her. You are in my prayers.

I was so sorry to hear about Jackie. I can remember her inviting me over to play shortly after we moved back to Hiawatha in the fifth grade. As I read about her life I see she kept being that wonderful caring person opening her home to many others. I bet she is helping take care of God's children now. May God be with your family. I'm so sorry to hear about the death of Jackie. It's hard to believe really. Jackie and I were in Hiawatha schools together. She, her cousin Jeanne, and I hung around a lot until she moved to, I believe, Holt, MO. She was funny and certainly spoke her mind. I'm so glad her obituary included a picture. She was still a beautiful woman. And from what I'm reading, she was beautiful on the inside as well. I know she'll be missed by many.

Santiago and Family,
Words will never be able to say how much Jackie meant to our family. Her love, support, guidance and friendship were only a few things that come to mind. I have so many wonderful memories of her starting when Jessica attended Wee Care.
Diona, you are a beautiful girl full of love that I have had the pleasure of watching grow up into a young woman. I know how hard this loss is for you sweetheart and I hope you know I am here for you. Call me, text me, write to me on Facebook whatever you need even if it's for no particular reason or you just need a hug.
Jaime, I'm so sorry you probably don't remember me as much as Diona does but I can still remember you as a little boy and here you are growing up into a young man. You have your whole future ahead of you and I know your mom had complete faith that you will go out into the world with the wisdom, love and guidance she gave to you.
Jason, I know we have never met but I feel as though I know you. Your mother always spoke of you with such pride and love. Her eyes always twinkled when she would share stories of you.
Santiago,
I'm so sorry for your loss if there is ever anything I or my family can do please know we are only a phone call away. If you need help with the younger ones or just need some time to yourself, please don't hesitate to call.
I know Jackie is with our Lord and Savior and we are not in this alone. The love from above will support us during this time of grief and sorrow.
All of our love and prayers,
Joe and Stephanie Stonebraker
