Tod E. Mason

Tod Edward Mason, 59, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
Tod was born August 17, 1949 to Elmer and Janet Mason in Des Moines. He graduated from East High School in 1967. After graduation, he attended Drake University leaving in 1970 to enlist in the U.S. Army where he served as a Hebrew linguist for four years. On his return home, Tod worked for the RI Railroad, CNW Railroad and ended his 30 years with the Union Pacific Railroad in 2007. He married his wife, Gerri in 1976 and together, they raised two children. Tod enjoyed railroading, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family and friends.
Tod was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gerri; daughter, Shannon (Anthony) Thede; son, Tod E. Mason, II; and his grandson, Mason Arthur Thede.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
