Albert V. Elings

Albert Elings, 87, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Urbandale Healthcare Center. Albert was born on November 4, 1921 to Walter and Hazel Elings in Des Moines, Iowa.
Albert enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending the winter in Texas. He was a member of the Beaverdale Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and a 40 year member of the Brick Mason and Plaster Union.
He is survived by his daughter Bonnie (Erick) Peterson; his companion of 30 years, Donna Whitman; two grandsons, Jeremy and Gregory; three great-grandchildren, Damion, Savannah and Micayla; and a sister, Luella Frey.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife Jean, parents, son James, daughters, Valerie and Linda, and brother Calvin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
