Ryan Miller
November 10, 2020
Ryan Lee Miller, 51, died peacefully Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Ryan was born April 19, 1969 to JoElla and Bernard “Bud” Miller in Estherville, Iowa. He loved growing up on the farm, playing down by the creek with his dog, and shooting rabbits with his BB gun. As he got older he loved to push his Camaro to see how fast he could run down the gravel roads around home, playing quarterback on the Sentral Football team, and shortstop on the baseball team. He loved and still was very close to his high school class and often bragged that he graduated with 16 people and they were still his best friends.
Ryan’s daughter Erin was born May 13, 1993 and his daughter Megan was born August 8, 1994. He married Holly Peterson May 8, 1999. As a family, they loved to travel and camp. On July 23, 2004, Ryan and Holly had a son, Alan Andrew Dean Miller. Alan was born with a heart defect and died January 14, 2005. From his memory, Ryan founded the Little Al Foundation. He worked tirelessly to make the foundation successful and making his little boy proud.
Ryan’s favorite things to do were sailing in the Caribbean, fishing in northern Minnesota, relaxing on Lake Red Rock, and riding his motorcycle. He was always excited to go to Alaska to visit his best friend Chris Hanna. His most favorite thing to do was to see his grandsons who love him dearly, Levi and Wyatt. They were his pride and joy.
Ryan is survived by his wife, Holly; his daughters Erin (Mike) Matheny, and Megan Miller. His grandsons Levi and Wyatt Matheny; his parents JoElla and Ed Miller; his brothers: Gene (Teri), Alan (Marcia), Lynn (Myra), and Gary (Sarah) Miller; his many nieces and nephews who he was very proud of; and his cousins, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m., on Friday at the funeral home. If you are unable to attend the service, you are welcome to join the family virtually through the live stream link below.

I met Ryan while on a trip to NYC. We were there for training, working for Sirius. He was the life of the party at dinner. Right away I knew this was a person I would keep in touch with and I am glad I did. He had lots of work knowledge but he never let it go to his head. He gave me great advice on several occassions and I enjoyed getting his opinions on things, work and life related. Rest in peace brother.

I only knew Ryan through the Little Al foundation.
Ryan had a nak to make everyone in the room feel as though he was talking to them and you were the most important person in the room. I always enjoyed the times I talked with Ryan at the Bowling or Golf outing and looked forward to these Benefits.
Ryan Miller, you will be missed by a Great many people.
