Howard E. Hawthorne

Howard E. Hawthorne, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Taylor House. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at Glendale Cemetery.
Howard was born March 30, 1923 in Boone, the son of Homer and Cora (Bumgardner) Hawthorne. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a Building Inspector with the City of Des Moines, and a Building Contractor.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Susan J. Hawthorne and Rebecca Schmitt, husband Jim, and grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Schmitt. He was preceded in death by his son, Howard S. Hawthorne.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Howard. Hamilton's Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
