Sandra Lynn Shaw
October 25, 2020
Sandra Lynn Shaw passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at home in the care of hospice and family after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
Sandy was born November 20, 1965 in Des Moines, Iowa to Don and Irene Reeves. She was married December 23, 1995 to Tim Shaw. They were just shy of celebrating 25 years of marriage.
Sandy worked for Mercy Clinics and held various positions in multiple clinics within the administrative/ clerical department. She enjoyed baking, gardening, traveling, spending times with friends and family, but a vacation on the beach with her family brought her the most joy.
Sandy is survived by her parents, Don and Irene, brother Rick (Kelli), husband Tim, and her favorite people in the world, her two sons Zach and Devin.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 2. There will be a second visitation period for one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill after the services.
Liposarcoma: Liposarcomas are a complex group of diseases that usually affect adults. They are often resistant to both local treatments (such as radiation therapy) and systemic treatments (such as chemotherapy). It is our hope that research will lead to newer and better treatments for those who are diagnosed with liposarcoma. In relation to other types of cancer, soft tissue sarcomas are relatively rare. Approximately 11,000 new cases of soft tissue sarcoma are diagnosed each year in the United States (ACS 2012) representing about 1% of all newly diagnosed human neoplasms. Learn more at The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family to go to her children, or to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Sandy was an awesome friend and won't be forgotten. I know that doesn't ease your pain but I pray knowing she is no longer in pain will be of comfort.
I won't be there today due to unforseen situations.

It is a most difficult thing to watch a loved one go through a cronic illness and, eventually, succum to the disease. To be a family that stays by each others side is a testament to your love for each other. Continue to turn to God for strength.

Sarcoma sucks.
This is such a difficult time for those left behind. Remember that Sandy is now pain free, whole and will spend an eternity in glory.
