Service Details

Larry Edward Erickson, 80, passed away October 25, 2020 after suffering a heart attack on October 14. No services will be held at this time.

Larry was born on January 4, 1940 in Webster City, Iowa to Beverly (Speck) and Virgil Erickson. Larry was a farm boy at heart. After graduating from Stanhope High School, he continued his education at Iowa State with a BSc in Animal Science and then to the University of Kentucky for his Master’s in Swine Nutrition. His love of animals led him to a career in agriculture working for feed and elevator companies, as a farm business consultant, and for Dekalb Co. Farm Bureau to name a few. His career took him from Iowa to Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois and back to Iowa.

Larry was a loyal and devoted father, grandfather and friend. He attended the functions of his children and was the greatest fan for the events of his grandchildren. He enjoyed raising English Bulldogs and later took an interest in woodcarving. He demonstrated his skill of carving at state fairs and was the recipient of many Blue Ribbons. Having hot chocolate with his buddies was always a favorite pastime as well. Larry was also an avid photographer. Judy and Larry honeymooned in Colorado and later spent many summers there with their children and grandchildren. This was Larry’s favorite spot to photograph. Larry was a member of local woodworking clubs, Covenant Presbyterian Church, and his investment club.

This dear man will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years, Judy; his sons, Scott (Jennifer) and Rick Erickson; granddaughters, Emily and Anna; sisters, Charlotte Danet and Nancy (Roger) Allen; his sister-in-law, Linda Erickson; and his nieces and nephews, along with their families. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary.
