She was the third child born to this union, family members always call her Connie Jean or Connie. She was educated in the Des Moines Public Schools System. In her younger days she was a member of the debutante’s and participated in the choir at school.
At a very young age she took off to see the sites in New York City against her older sisters wishes, there she remained for two years. After returing to Des Moines she married Robert Jones, to this union her son Markus Jones was born.
Connie was later employed by the Des Moines Register, Bankers Trust Company, and retired from the State of Iowa in the Vital Statistics Department. Connie enjoyed taking trips with her sister, Donna Lowery and her brother-in-law, Harry to Las Vegas and Branson, Missouri.
One of her most favorite past time included shopping and going to thrift stores, she could shop until she dropped! Connie loved finding bargains and also doing crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Elim Christian Fellowship where she participated in women’s Bible Study and attended church on a regular basis until her health prevented her from participating.
She is survived by her two sons, Markus Jones of Des Moines and Shawn Jones of Minneapolis; her sisters, Donna L. Lowery (Harry) of Des Moines, IA, Darlene Thomas of East Moline, IL, and Veltirea (Red) Cooley of Millwaukee, WI; brothers, Larry (Linda) Cooley of Des Moines, IA, and Robert (Bobby) Cooley of Lovilla, IA. She was predeceased by her parents; son, Curtis Jones; daughter, Tajuana Banks; and husbands, Robert Jones, Lewis Wade, and William Banks. She was truly loved and will be missed. Connie had fought the good fight and now has finished the course.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Elim Christian Fellowship, 525 E. 9th St., Des Moines, Iowa.
