James R. Bickell

Bob Bickell, 72, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 3510 72nd Street in Urbandale with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Bob was born July 31, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA the son of Harold and Frances (Brown) Bickell.
Bob attended Episcopal Academy in Philadelphia where he was captain of the football team. Bob was a graduate of Dartmouth with a degree in economics. While attending Dartmouth he was an Ivy League Wrestler.
After graduation Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana where his hobbies included big game hunting. He left active duty as a captain in 1962.
Bob is survived by his wife, Anne; sons, Alan (Tiffany) Bickell and Mike Bickell; sister, Sarah White and grandson, Christopher Bickell. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob enjoyed spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks where he was an avid boater and enjoyed off shore racing boats.
Memorials have been established to the National Federation of the Blind and St. Stephen Lutheran Church or to the charity of donors choice.
