Arthilla A. Pickett

Arthilla A. Pickett, 86, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 20, 2009 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Arthilla was born January 19, 1923 to Jesse and Flora Saddoris in Lincoln, NE. She lived in the Des Moines area most of her life. She married the love of her life, Ted Pickett on December 31, 1941. Arthilla retired from the Polk County Juvenile Home in 1981 where she cooked for many. She loved to bake cakes and cookies, work jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles and spend time with her beloved cat "Pow".
Arthilla is survived by her daughter, Marie Haus; son, Roger Pickett; grandchildren, Mischelle (Robert) Smith, Kimberley Schrier, Glenn (Shannon) Haus and Julie (Lee) Earles; 12great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, husband, Ted; son-in-law, Cecil; and granddaughter, Deborah Grow.
Arthilla "Grandma Pickett" will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
