Edith Webb
July 19, 2009
Edith M. (Parker) Monroe Webb was born August 2, 1907, in Chillicothe, Missouri, one of seven children born to Walter and Ethel Lee Parker. She was educated in Chillicothe, Terra Haute, Indiana and New York City but lived most of her adult life in Des Moines.
She was married to Raymond Monroe Sr. and two children were born of that union; Ethel Louise Monroe-Hayes and Raymond Clyde Monroe Jr., both of whom preceded her in death.
Edith eventually married Robert Webb Jr. and that union produced three children; Valerie Lee Weaver, Vicki Jo Whiteside and Robert Webb III.
Edith loved to travel, entertain family, friends and members of the Three Purpose Club of which she was a charter member. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, reading and working jumble puzzles. She was employed as a dental assistant at the Des Moines Health Center for many years and retired in 1964. She then volunteered as a Foster Grandparent working at Smouse, Callanan and Ruby Van Meter Elementary Schools and the Child Guidance Center for over twenty years until her final retirement.
Edith was a longtime active member of Corinthian Baptist Church, serving as an usher, Busybee member and on the Mothers Board.
Edith’s loss is mourned by her daughters, Valerie Lee Weaver and Vicki Jo Whiteside; son, Robert Webb III; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Corinthian Baptist Church Building Fund, Foster Grandparents or Smile Train in loving memory of Edith. Hamilton's Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Valie, Vicki & Bobby,
Please accept my sincere condolences at this most difficult time. Vicki Jo, you and I have spoken about how blessed we were to have such wonderful mothers. Your mother was one of the most gracious women I've ever known. I count myself very lucky to be a member of your extended family.
May God give you the strength to carry on in the matter she wished.
Love and prayers,
Ginger
