Chad Jason "Coxy" Cox, 37, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 10, 2009. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. until service time.
Chad was born April 23, 1972 to Lynda Cox in Des Moines. He graduated from East High School in 1991 where he played varsity football. Chad enjoyed sports, was an avid New York Yankees fan and an Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He will always be remembered as a kind soul who loved his family and friends.
Chad is survived by his mother, Lynda Cox; grandparents, Weldon Cox and Joyce Cox; uncles, Jeff Cox and David (Christi) Cox; many nieces; nephews; and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by a special little boy, Solomon Kunert.

I was 2 years behind chad, but I always wen't to the games.Chad has a sweet heart and will be remembered by all his friends that have moved away like me.Everyone is getting a text in honor of his memory.

You were a dear friend thoughout my high school years you never let me down when I needed to talk to a friend you were always there.. You made high school not a scary place for me... When we would see eachother after highschool you were still that awesome friend..When I needed to talk you never let me down again.. When I was hurt you were to its Ok.. And you always had my back.. You will be missed by so many people, and you touched so many hearts.. you never turned a friend down!! Hopefully these kind words that all your friends have to say will make it better, because you were you.. and nobody can replace that..

Linda, I remember Chad when he was little and Judy and I would visit once in a while. He was a cute ,sweet boy and I imagine he grew into a fine caring young man. I was so sorry to read of his passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

You were always full of smiles, you will be Forever missed....... May your family find strength in the wonderful way you touched so many lives, I will never forget seeing you and Kunert together a couple of years ago at Pick's(Brian Lloyd) Halloween party, even after so many years you remembered me with a smile! That is a memory I will forever treasure!! See you on the other side, my East Side Brother!!

Coxy you were the greatest friend anyone could ask for. I will miss you and your loud muffler. Summer and Jake will forever miss "their driver" and they will never forget how you would say, "Drivin Ms. Babe's kids" and I'll never forget how they would laugh and laugh and you right along with them. You loved everyone's kids as if they were your own and that is a wonderful quality to have.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for always being there to listen, through the good ......the bad...... and most definitely the ugliest of times...... you were always there.....and I hope you found that same friend in me.

I haven't seen Chad in so many years, but have many memories from High School of him just making me laugh and being such a nice guy. So sorry for your loss.

Chad, I dont have words for how much you will be missed. My heart is broken. Youre not supposed to be gone. Its too soon. You were a big brother to me, not a cousin. We spent almost every day together growing up, and because of that we had a special bond that I treasured.
There is a picture of us when we were little. I was probably three years old and you were sitting with me at my plastic table and chairs having a tea party with me. You probably wanted to be doing boy things, but instead you were having pretend tea with me. All because you loved me. Thats who you were to me. A kind, gentle soul who would do anything and would always protect me. You helped teach me how to play softball and were always so proud of me. You even carried my t-ball picture around in your wallet - for 15 years! You watched me grow up and as I got older, you were always quick to remind me if anyone messes with you, you let me know!
You loved your family and your friends so much. I hope you know how much we loved you too.
I will miss your smile. I will miss your kindness. Our family will never be the same without you Chad. I would give anything to have one more hug from you. I love you so much and I am blessed to have had you in my life.
