Louis LaVerne Ballard

Louis L. Ballard, 81, died July 3, 2009 at his home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Louis was born March 28,1928 to Herbert and Blanche Ballard in Des Moines. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the Army and the Air Force. On August 6, 1950, he married Ila Wood. Louis worked for Iowa Parcel where he retired after 36 years. He also loved to help Bob Towing when he had free time to spare. His favorite hobbies include fishing, boating, playing cards, and pool. Louis was an avid bowler at Grand Lanes and was a member of the Iowa Boating Association.
Louis is survived by his wife, Ila; sons, Lester (Rene’e) and Peter (Mica); brother, Gene; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; and a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lucky; brothers, Duane and Gerald; and grandson, Ryan.
