Carolyn Jane Harris

Carolyn Jane Harris, age 61, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020.

Carolyn was born November 24, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois. She loved going out, dancing and singing. Family was Carolyn’s primary focus. Her world revolved around them and she loved a good family get-together. She loved her sibling time and the holidays. Carolyn was very picky and stubborn, and she was not afraid to speak her mind. She loved to talk and had no problem telling you to shut up! She enjoyed playing card games and dominoes with her friends and family.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her children, Shawanna Carr (Robert Brooks), Shawkrice (Lafayette) Owens, Roosevelt Harris, Tondia Hall, Sheran (Michelle) Harris, Anthony Harris, Twanna (John) Simmons, Lorraine Harris, Gardcell Harris (niece/daughter), Jayden Bacon; grandchildren, Tashia Harris, Minute Maid, Rai-nance Shumpert, and 47 others; great-grandchildren, Tayvon Harris, 28 others, and baby Jane on the way; brothers, Dennis (Lethia) Williams, Penny Lee Harris, Larry Bell, Reggie Bell; sisters, Dorothy Williams, Annie Mai Harris, Yolanda (Marvel) Griffin; nephew/son, Andre Williams; dear friends, Aunt Poochie and Sister/Pastor Suzanne Holmes; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Bell; great-granddaughter, Mariah Harris; brother, Jerry Harris; son-in-law, Kevin Hall; sister, Joanne Harris; aunts, Ruth Cutler, Betty Cutler, Naomi Bell; and son-in-law, William Carr.

A celebration of her life will be held from 2:00 - 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made directly to the family in loving memory of Carolyn.
