Sue Burt

Nelle Sue Burt passed away on October 13, 2020 at Mill Pond Care Center in Ankeny, IA. She was born November 18, 1930 to James Harrison and Clara Ola Burt in Des Moines, IA.

Sue graduated from Polk City School in 1948. She then attended Trinity Bible College, graduating with a two year degree. Sue worked at various jobs in Des Moines, lastly, working 27 ½ years for the State of Iowa’s 5th Judicial District Juvenile Court. She retired in 1992. Sue enjoyed traveling to several countries during her employment and after retirement. She was a member of Lakeside Fellowship in Polk City. Her church was a big part of her life.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul (Frances), Don (Lois), Glenn and Jack (Audrey) Burt, sisters Pauline (Bob) Bowersox, Donna (Tyke) Geisler and Ellen (Darryl) Johnson, sister-in-law Erma Burt and brother-in-law Bob Carlson. Her survivors include brothers Gene of Ankeny, Roger (Sharon) of Polk City, sister Barbara Carlson of Johnston, sister-in-law Kathy Burt of Ankeny and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Union Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
