Jennifer "Jenny" Johnson

Jenny Johnson, 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 14, 2020, after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was born in Tripoli, Iowa, on July 4, 1945, to parents Wayne Orlin and Kathryn Ruth Colburn.
Jenny worked at Rockwell Collins on the Apollo program in the 1960’s. She was also a long time employee of Hy-Vee and retired in 2005. Jenny was active in Tri-T as well as a red hat group. Jenny liked to read and she also enjoyed crafts and ceramics. She was an extremely talented cake decorator, a hobby she enjoyed for numerous years. Jenny was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs enthusiast.
Jenny is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bob; children, Jon (Rhonda) Johnson, Debby Patterson, and Sara Valentine; 9 grandchildren: Nick, Luke, Katie, Rochelle, Douglas, Jacqui, William, Marcus, and Louis IV; 2 great-grandchildren, Jaydee and Jon; her sister, Kristen Kuhns; as well as other loving family and many special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Cheryl Kammeyer and Gene Colburn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. A private committal service will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. The family respectfully requests masks be worn and social distancing is encouraged.

2 weeks ago today i visited with Jenny. i loved that visit and every visit i was fortunate enough to have with her. There was never a time that i spent with her that she didn't bring a smile to my face which always turned into laughter...lots of laughter. Jenny you will be very missed. Please look down on us and continue making us smile.

Bob and family, Don and I are so sad to hear of the passing of Jenny. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We will always cherish the memories of the many times we spent together and all we shared.
