Ada Lorraine Woodring

Ada "Lorraine" Woodring, 82, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Dallas County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial following at Sunnyhill Cemetery in Grimes. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
Lorraine was born November 27, 1926 in Des Moines to Clarence and Ruby Huiatt. She married William "Bill" Woodring on January 18, 1947 and they had three children. Lorraine was a lifetime Des Moines resident, where for over 30 years she owned and operated Lorraine's Beauty Salon and served as the beautician for Hamilton's Funeral Home. Lorraine was a member of Highland Park Christian Church, a 52 year member of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron in 1994. She was also a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Daughters of the Nile.
Lorraine loved to be with her family, spend time with friends, play cards, travel and cook.
Lorraine is survived by her children, William Woodring of Lake Tahoe, CA, Linda Andorf (John) of Perry, IA and Lisa Woodring of Adel, IA; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, her parents, and her siblings: Roberta, Delores, Peggy, Edward, and Patricia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Suite of Dallas County Hospital or Spring Valley Retirement in Perry.
