Loey "Maxine" Burke, 87, died July 1, 2009 at Bright Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Maxine was born November 20, 1921 to Calvin Earl and Nina Graves in Cherry Vale, New Mexico. She worked for W.T. Grant, where she still had lunch with the "Grant girls" once a month, the D.O.T. and after her mother passed away, she took over her Avon business which was her passion. Maxine was a member of Simpson United Methodist church, Women of the Moose, Ladies Auxilliary of Am Vets, and O.E.S. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, flowers and gardening.
Maxine is survived by her children, Corrine (Dennis) Brown and Danny (Ranee) Burke; grandchildren, Darwin (Lori) Brown, Steve Brown, Dana (Todd) Steinhart, Tara (Dan) Boothroyd, Tammy (Frank) Sullivan and Danny Burke, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Suzane, Nicholas, Dustin, Tyler, Devan, Lauren, Jacob, Jason and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos; her parents, sisters, Mildred and Margaret; and brother, Albert.
