Woodrow Poteete

Woodrow Poteete, 96, of Chandler, Arizona went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2009.
He was born on April 8, 1913 in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. In 1933 he and his wife, Georgia Ann Poe, moved from Hector, Arkansas to Des Moines, Iowa. Woodie retired from the Des Moines Union Railroad after 29 years.
His wife, Georgia, went to be with the Lord in January, 1998, at which time he moved to Chandler, Arizona to live with his son, George, and daughter-in-law, Carol. Woodie spent the last 6 weeks of his life at the Citadel Care Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Woodie is survived by his son, George and his wife, Carol; three grandchildren, Lanette Poteete-Young, (Jim) of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, Peggy MacPherson (Ed) of Tyler, Texas and Pamela Nemeth (Dave) of Avon, Indiana; and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chandler Senior Citizen Center or to Southtown Pentecostal Church in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was a member.
