Martha Phillips

Martha Kristine Phillips, 85, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, January 21, 2007. Funeral services will be at 2pm Wednesday, January 24 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens with family greeting friends one hour prior to services. Cremation will follow the funeral and private family burial will be at a later date.
Martha was born October 1, 1921 in Bondurant, Iowa, the daughter of Laurits and Edna (Trunnell) Thomsen. She was a member of the Bondurant American Legion, the Sewing Club, and the Senior Citizens Group in Bondurant. She volunteered many hours at the grade school in Bondurant, and above all else enjoyed playing cards with “the girls.”
Martha is survived by her son and his wife, Joe and Linda Phillips, Jr. of Ankeny; her grandson and his wife, Ryan and Vanessa Phillips of Des Moines; her granddaughter and her husband, Stefani and Jeff Goerndt of Chariton; and her great-grandchildren, Guy, Gracie, Connor and McKenna. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Phillips, Sr.; her parents; her brother, Francis Thomsen and her sister, Norma White.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bondurant American Legion and Auxiliary.
