I know this is late but we just recently found out about your dad. Your mom and dad were great friends to us when we lived in LaPorte City over 30 years ago. I do not know if you would remember us but we remember them with great affection. You girls were such sweethearts and it was the great parenting that you had that made you such wonderful girls. They both left this world way too soon and we just wanted you to know that they are not forgotten
Sincerely,
Pat and Tom Twait

LAURA, LISA, AND Stacie:
Our sympathy to you. When we moved to LaPorte City, both Pat and Dan were so welcoming. They invited us to join their card club, and we always had so much fun at those card parties.
I so very much enjoyed working with Pat at the elementary school and Dan was fun to visit with. He was full of stories and had fun sharing them with us.
Many great memories of Dan and Pat.

Dear Laura and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your father sounds like a very caring and very well rounded kind of guy. He sounds like the type that loved to tell stories of all of his adventures. I'm sure you will miss him dearly.

Dear Laura, Lisa, and Stacey and families,
I am sorry to read of your father's passing. He really got a chance to see the world in the later years of his life-what an adventure all those trips must have been.
Every time I drive down Bishop Avenue past your home there, I think about your mom and dad and wonder how you girls are. Also, your mother's flower garden at school was lovely this spring.
May God's loving arms comfort you in the days ahead.
With love, Colleen Hoffman-Schulz

Dear Laura, Lisa, Stacey, Megan, and your families - my heart has been aching for you. I loved your parents. I always felt so special because I got to be a flower girl at their wedding and they always kindly indulged and reinforced that feeling. I treasure the cards and notes from your Mom that I have saved from when I was a little girl and especially the letter from your Dad after your Mom passed away. I always thought he was a great philospher and enjoyed discussing books, etc. with him. May God comfort you and bless you with the fondest of memories and peace. Please know you're in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Mary

Laura, Lisa and Stacy, We were neighbors of Dan and Pat on South Cleveland in Sioux City, IA. Pat babysat our daughter, Suzie, when I went back to teaching. Pat and Dan became good friends of ours. Pat and I were members of a bridge club (of which Margie Vanderberg and I are still members.) We were sad when they moved over to Eastern Iowa. Laura and Lisa played with and helped Pat take care of Babie Suzie. They were so good to her. I'll always remember Dan as a great husband and father. We shared lots of laughs with both Pat and Dan during our Sioux City friendship. Our sympathy to all of you. I will write to Laura in the near future as I still have her address from when Pat died. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you at this very sad time. Dick and Ann Bell, Sioux City, IA.

Dan was a mentor to me when I was a counselor in training in 1980. He showed me how to go about work in a practical manner, to not get bent out of shape with red tape one would have to deal, to keep a sense of humor, and above all to not let work overshadow the importance of family.
