William R. Mace

William R. Mace, 65, passed away June 22, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. and the funeral will be on Thursday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m.
William believed in the “circle of trust” with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was the protector and rock for his family and considered them his best friends. William opened his arms and his heart to anyone that needed help. He believed in hard work but also fun. He was a prankster and those around him said, “if he teases me, I know he likes me.” He also enjoyed fishing and traveling and covered most of the 50 states.
William is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lois; daughters, Cindy, Sherry (John) Kelley, Phyllis Gavin, Billi (Heath) Williams, Jackie (Kyle) Oberender, and Renee; ten grandchildren, Maranda, Gage, Paiten, Zachary, Gentry, Karson, Candice, Hailey and William; siblings, John, Phyllis, Sharon, Roe Jr. and Dutheal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roe, Sr. and Dutheal (Sparks) Mace; siblings, Linda, Rae, Duke and Jimmy.
