Jeannine "Mimi" Steenrod, 63, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at Bright Kavanagh House. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.
Jeannine was born February 5, 1946 to Harry and Jeanette Goddard in Kennett, MO. She worked for many years as a case worker for the St Louis, Missouri Division of Family Services. Jeannine moved to Des Moines 11 years ago to begin a new chapter in her life as "Grandmother" which she loved dearly.
Jeannine is survived by her daughter, Monica Greer; granddaughters, Emily and Sydnie Greer; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family for her granddaughters' college fund.

We all know that life is short. Were so glad that during the last 11 years your mom and Mimi lived so close that you could spend a lot of time making many memories that will always be with you. MIMIS LOVE

I am very sorry for your loss. When we were friendy neighbors all those years ago in Kennett, your Mimi was a sweet, thoughtful person. She made the world a better place. All the best.

Monica,
I'm sure you've never heard of me but Jeannine and I were high school sweet hearts and she left such an impression on me that I never forgot her. I guess it's true that you never forget your first real love. I tried to find where she had gone after several years but never did so was not able to contact her.
I can only imagine that she was a wonderful woman and mother.
You have my very deepest sympathy. I am so sorry for your loss.
