Thomas A. Davis

Thomas Alvah Davis, 70, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully in his home surround by loved ones on October 9, 2020.

Tom was born on February 20, 1950 in Centerville, Iowa to Carl V. and Maxine L. Childs Davis. He was the youngest child of seven.

He graduated from Tech High School in 1968. He served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, before being honorably discharged in 1973.

In 1974 he started his long 38 year career at the VA Hospital, where he held many positions over the years and retired as a SPD Tech in 2012. He was married to his wife, Diana Davis, in 1974 and in 2020 they were able to celebrate 46 years together.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Burgher Davis; his son, Erik Davis; his daughters, Amanda Davis-Mabe (Jay Mabe) and Mary Berry (Marc Berry). He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Carter Davis, Blake Mabe, Trenton Davis, Jackson Davis, Sofie Davis, Duke Berry, JayLynn Mabe and Arya Berry., his siblings, Wilford Davis and Jack Davis; and many loved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl V. and Maxine L. Davis; his beloved brothers, Linco and C. Wayne Davis; his loving sisters, Linda Smith and Wynonna Terry; and many other loved family members.

There will be a memorial on Saturday, October 17th, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Sheridan Park, 4000 Hull Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. There will be snacks and drinks provided by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Amanda Davis-Mabe or Mary Berry.
