Randy M. Deeds

Randy Max Deeds, age 67, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020.

Randy was born March 5, 1953 in Milan, Missouri to Fred and Edna (Bonnett) Deeds. He worked for the City of Des Moines as a Heavy Equipment Operator for over 30 years. Randy served in the U. S. Army Reserves for 22 years.

Randy’s family was his first priority. He was a story-teller and debater. He never met a stranger. Randy was a jack-of-all-trades and he was the first one there if you ever needed help. Randy was an excellent cook – he will be remembered for smoking ribs, baking bread, homemade noodles, and cooking for holidays and family gatherings. He enjoyed going to the casino and loved playing cards. He played a mean game of Pitch and you never knew when he was bluffing. He loved spending time camping with his grandchildren. He often watched his granddaughters play softball. Randy enjoyed the outdoors. He spent time fishing, hunting, and golfing. He also loved his flower garden, bird watching, and was particular about his lawn.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, David O’Donnell, Randy (Mandi) O’Donnell, Stacy Esteban, Anthony (Melissa) O’Donnell, and Ebonii Deeds; grandchildren, Aaron (Terri), Mackenzie, Samantha, Kirsty, Derek, Gracie, Lily, Halie, Seth, Sean, Thomas, Julius, and Julianna; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry (Ruby) Deeds and Mike (Kay) Deeds; sister-in-law, Marge Deeds; a host of extended family members; and many, many friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Deeds and Edna Minter and his brother, Fred Deeds.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with cremation to follow.
