Martin Kinnaird

Martin Kinnaird, 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Services will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Westkirk Presbyterian Church, 2700 Colby Woods Drive, Urbandale, Iowa.
Martin joined the Navy in 1944 and retired in 1978. Some of his assignments included the S.S. Fairwind, USS Bexar, USS Montrail, USS Bryce Canyon, US Naval Shipyards in Hunters Point, San Diego and Long Beach, CA, the USS Independence, the USS Naval Shipyard in Yokosuka, Japan, and Saigon. His naval career culminated on the USS Ranger (CVA-61). After retiring from the Navy he worked as a Project Manager for the Triple A Shipyard until 1979 and then as a Project Design and Sales Engineer for TEXSTAR Co. of Los Angeles, CA.
Martin is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ellen; sons, Steve Thompson and Donnie (Cris) Thompson; and sisters, Pat Baker, Muriel (Bill) Moreland. He was preceded in death by his parents.
