Carol Marie Abbott, 68, of Ankeny, passed away peacefully in the company of her loved ones on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from complications of breast cancer.
Carol retired from DMACC in 2000 after 23 years of service. She enjoyed her family and friends, traveling and watching the Cubs play. Carol was deeply loved and was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her.
Her loving survivors include, her husband, Cleo; sons, Chris (Kathy) Abbott of Chandler, AZ; Craig Abbott of Ankeny; grandsons, Dakota Erickson and Nicholas Abbott; brothers, Fred (Kathy) Werner of Lamoni, Pete (Dixie) Werner of Mitchellville; sister, Sharon (Rufus) Brown of Neosho, MO.; many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Visitation with family present will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in loving memory of Carol.

I always considered Carol and Cleo to be like a second set of parents. Carol always knew how to make me feel better in trying times. She was there at my time of loss, And I will never forget her for that. God bless you Carol, And God bless Cleo, Chris, Kathy, and Craig.

Cleo, Chris & Kathy and Craig-
Carol was an outstanding woman who brightened everyone's world with her laughter and her smile. She was warm, compassionate and was dear to many. We will all miss her, but Heaven is a better place because she is there.
