Richard J. Sydnes

Richard Sydnes, 83, passed away at his home Friday, June 12, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Richard was born May 8, 1926 in Slater, Iowa to Richard B. and Theresa (Halvorson) Sydnes. He moved to the Des Moines area in 1943. He was the Deputy State Auditor for Iowa until 1980. Richard was an ordained minister and served the Calvary Community Church until his retirement in 1991. Richard was a member of Grace Church.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Bettejean (George) Cramer and Cheri Rogers; sisters, Irma Elliott and Norma Pennington; six grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
