Glinda,
I considered Darrel not only a father figure, but a great friend and I will really miss him.
We had some great times together talking about Hawkeye sports and he always gave me great advice. I always enjoyed his company.
He was a fighter and lived longer than expected after his liver transplant. I admire him for being strong through all his health issues.
You are in my prayers and even though you lost your best friend, please keep in mind that all your children and grandchildren are here for you and love you. Please try to stay strong through this sadden time, Darrel would want you to.
Love,
Ryan

You are in our thoughts and prayers. We always enjoyed spending time with Darrel and listening to his stories. It has been awhile since we have seen him, but Marilyn Bachman has kept us updated on him.

Glinda, we are so sorry in the passing of Darrel. He was a great and true friend for many years. I am scheduled for a Chicago trip with the hospital for the Shrine with Marion; won't be able to make services, but Jan will be there. We will be thinking about you and please call for anything. We love you!
