Mary Gaskins

Mary Lou Gaskins, 77, passed away January 20 at her home in Mitchellville. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary Lou was born April 19, 1929 in Winterset. She took care of her family by being a homemaker. Mary Lou lived in Altoona for over 50 years. She was a 50 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star. Mary Lou enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making afghans. She loved watching birds and hummingbirds were her favorite. She loved being with her family.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and her son Joseph Jr.
She is survived by her children, Linda Jordan (George), Mary La Vigne (Michael) and Steve Mumford (Dixie); 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
