I worked with Doug for many years at Homesteaders Life Company. I always enjoyed Doug's pleasant personality and eternal sunshine. I don't think I ever saw him get upset or lose his cool in any situation, and I don't recall him ever saying anything but good about others. He was the kind of person we all should aspire to be-good and kind and decent and fair and pleasant.

Doug was one of the kindest, gentlest and most generous friends Tim and I ever had. Never a judgment made and never an unkind word. Doug made us all feel like we were home and always welcome at the Schuemann homestead. We will miss his bright blue eyes, and that cat that ate the canary grin.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cindy, the kids and grandkids. Doug will be missed. We loved him as a brother.
