Marilyn Ann Gambrall
June 05, 2009
Marilyn A. Gambrall passed away peacefully on June 5, 2009 at Bright Kavanagh House with family at her bedside. She was well loved and touched many through her 76 years. She was a full time Great-Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother and employee of Prairie Meadows. Marilyn was a one of-a-kind “boss” of the family and jokingly reminded everyone of that fact up to the very end. She’ll be cherished and missed.
Marilyn’s memory will be treasured by her sister, Charlene Simmons of Des Moines; daughter, Deb Cason of Des Moines; sons, John (Teri) Gambrall Jr. and Brian (Shelly) Gambrall, both of Winterset; daughter, Julie Gambrall of Des Moines; her beloved grandchildren, Marcus (Tatum) Cason, Jasmine Gambrall, Bryce (Alaura) Gambrall, Nicholas Gambrall, Ryan Gambrall, Brandon Gambrall, Ethan Gambrall, and Madison Gambrall; her great-granddaughter, Mayla Cason; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; infant son, Louis; her brothers, Gene Warren, Bob Warren, Roy Warren and Danny Warren; and her sisters, Carolyn Waldron and Barbara Haggard.
Services will be held in Des Moines at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. and a reception will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Winterset at Winterset Community Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for contributions to the Marilyn Gambrall Memorial Fund through Union State Bank in Winterset, Iowa. All contributions will benefit The Bright Kavanagh House.

My sympathy to Marilyn's family. I worked with Marilyn at Prairie Meadows in the Prairie Gold Club for six years. I left Prairie Meadows a year ago this month so had not seen her recently. I very much enjoyed working with Marilyn--she was one of a kind. She had talked about retiring for the last couple of years I worked with her and I know she very much loved camping. I wish that she had enjoyed some retirement years and camped and spent more time with her family before she passed away. I know she was close to her family and I know you will miss her very much as those who knew and worked with her will also miss her. May she rest in peace.
