Carla J. Freel, 69, passed away on October 6, 2020. She was born June 4, 1951 in Des Moines to Virgil and Phyllis (Steele) Tharp.
Carla was an original hippie chick. She had an exuberance for life and enjoyed fishing and attending the fair from sun up to sun down. Family was everything to Carla. Her cooking will be dearly missed especially her world famous meatloaf. Carla was a member of Epworth UMC.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Roger; children, Tina (Norman) Fessler, Jeff (Valerie) Freel and Angela (Jeff) Lovell; grandchildren, Emily (Cody) Oliver, Miranda Monroe and Brian (Shay) Guill II, Kellie Fliss and Brooke Bush; great grandchildren, Malikai, Annabeth, Olivia, Athena and Brian “Little B”; brother, Brent Tharp; best 4 legged companion, Gizmo.
Carla was preceded in death by her son, Randy Freel; granddaughter, Caitlin Freel; brother, Kent Tharp; and her parents, Virgil and Phyllis Tharp.
Carla will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in a private family ceremony.

I will so truly miss our many conversations about our furbabies and our faith,you were always so kind and had a big heart,it will be hard to go to Hibachi and not to think "will i run into you 3 again" Fly High with the Angels and know you will be truly missed!!
