Since freshman year in HS we were on the same winter sports together. 1 year of BB and 3 years of swimming. He kept everyone in great spirits and he was truly determined to get better with every practice and meet. Thankfully for FB most of the class of '92 was able to keep up with him and see that Woody had grown but never changed. I cannot express how this news hit me.
Rest well my friend, I look forward to seeing you again.

Darrett's bright smile welcomed me to Unitypoint six years ago. He was a great friend who always remembered the little details about everyone's lives and genuinely cared about how things were going. His positivity lit up the room. I will always be grateful that I had the chance to know this amazing person. Fly high my fellow Phoenix, you will be missed.

My condolences to the family of Darrett Boone. I met Darrett when I got hired at the Des Moines Public Library as a page in 1991. Darrett was a pleasure to be around. He would challenge me to see who could shelve the most books in the shortest time. Darrett could stack a cart with almost 100 books and have it shelved in under an hour. When the Flood of 1993 hit Des Moines, Darrett was an instrumental part in how the library got everything back on the shelves after the entire glass dome floor was completely covered with books while the library was closed.
I kept in contact with Darrett after he left library employment. I often would see him waiting for a bus and often at Burger King downtown.
I was so happy for him when he got his degree. His face would light up when he talked about his life goals.
One of the things Darrett did that I will always remember him for was when my father was at Methodist Hospital dying of cancer. I would get emotionally drained and would retreat to the cafeteria where Darrett was working. Darrett comforted me during one of the most painful times of my life.
Rest in Peace, Darrett.
