Mary F. Hummel

Mary Frances Hummel, age 77, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at her home in Des Moines.

Mary was born October 2, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to James and Dorothy (Bunce) Wellons. She is survived by her children, Dorothy (Marshall) Neal, Mary Ann Toole (John Hogan), and Donald Huffman; grandchildren, David and Mya Wilderom; siblings, Dorothy “Dolly” Wise, Bob Wellons, Margie Grother, and Martha Pederson; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Wellons; her daughter, Patty Smith; and her siblings, Larry Wellons, John Wellons, Shirley Scovel, Emma Thompson, and Viola Grother.

Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will take place after the services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Mary.
